Caipirinha

  • 50ml Leblon Cachaca
  • 1 Lime Cut in to Cubes
  • 3 Teaspoons of Caster Sugar

In a traditional style, muddle all the ingredients together, add cubed ice and shake the mix hard, breaking the ice in the shaker. Top the drink with more cubed ice and add a lime wedge for those who like it a little extra sour.

Caipirinha translates as “country peasant” referring to slaves who used to work in the sugar cane fields in Brazil where this concoction has become the national drink! Back in the day cachaca was harsh, so to balance the flavor lime and sugar was added. If this is what the peasants drink, I must be a tramp!
